BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — Iraqi police pulled the body of what they said was a Western-looking man apparently dressed in U.S. military uniform from a river south of Baghdad Wednesday, an official told CNN.
The body was handed over to U.S. military authorities, who have been searching since May 12 for three of their soldiers missing after an attack on an observation post near Mahmoudiya in an area known by troops as the Triangle of Death.
