Somewhat Out of Touch

Don’t get too excited, kids. My internet access has been down since yesterday morning, and I’m writing for a bit from the local coffeehouse. This whole situation puts a decided crimp in my job hunting.
Anyway, I don’t even know the details of what happened with Monica Goodling yesterday, since I didn’t read the papers this morning (or “The Norgs,” as my pal Will would say). Instead, I was off to my free yoga class! (Kisses to B.)
The New York Times says:
Ms. Goodling was an odd witness. She was one of the most powerful officials in the Justice Department, but claimed to be a minor player who barely knew what was going on around her. “At heart, I am a fairly quiet girl, who tries to do the right thing and tries to treat people kindly along the way,” said the 33-year-old Ms. Goodling. She presented herself as an innocent, yet testified only under immunity and admitted to apparently illegal practices.
Yes, that’s invariably how it happens. You’re just going along, being kind and following the Ten Commandments, and all of a sudden, you’re in the middle of a major constitutional crisis. It just… sneaks up on you. I know how that is, believe me. Thank God for communications consultants, who have a way of bringing befuddlement to the most cut-and-dried situations.
But enough of the country - back to me! Who knew my muscles were knotted and constricted in so very many ways? Perhaps four years of daily blogging have taken a permanent toll on my muscular-skeletal system. I hope not.
My friend the yoga instructor is an absolute dear and I’m very happy to be taking her class - although I have to admit, I feel like a bit of a class traitor. But what can you do?
