Vindication

Thirty years late. I dropped out of art school when I was pregnant with my oldest son, because I figured working with lead paint and solvents had to be bad for the baby.
But it was such a new idea, that a pregnant woman still wanted to paint, that they didn’t know what to do with me. I suggested they let me paint with acrylics instead, but the dean was appalled. “It’s an oil painting class!” he said.
Didn’t matter, anyway. If the solvents do this much to children via the fathers, imagine how bad it is when the moms are exposed.
