Quit While You’re Behind

Staunch Republican Christopher Buckley (William F.’s son and author of the very funny “Thank You For Smoking”) is hoping the Republicans lose in ‘08. Here’s a taste of his reasoning:
Who knew, in 2000, that “compassionate conservatism” meant bigger government, unrestricted government spending, government intrusion in personal matters, government ineptitude, and cronyism in disaster relief? Who knew, in 2000, that the only bill the president would veto, six years later, would be one on funding stem-cell research?
A more accurate term for Mr. Bush’s political philosophy might be incontinent conservatism.

AMEN!!!
“Anyone who has even a passing personal acquaintance of Bush 41 knows him to be, roughly speaking, the most decent, considerate, humble, and cautious man on the planet.”
Yeah, for a butcher. And his father supported the nazis.
Buckley has a good take on the problems facing Republicans, but what I don’t get is why all this is such a suprise. This is pretty much the way Bush ran Texas. This is neither compassionate, nor conservative, which is why conservatives are angry at the Republican party, just as libs are angry with the Democratic party.
Hey brendan, I suggest you look at the skeletons in your own party if you’re gonna break out the past ashes & throw ‘em around….
