I think I’m screwed. I clicked on a letter from ebay the other day that seemed perfectly normal - except that it was sent to the wrong email account. It was just one of those dumb, unguarded moments.
This morning, I couldn’t open my email, can’t cut and paste, etc. I’m running virus scans now, but I already know I’m infected. The only question is, can I fix it?
UPDATE: Seems okay now. I was running six or seven svchost.exe files at once that were using close to 100% of my CPU, but it’s back to normal. Maybe it was just a Windows update.
From what I’ve read, even though svchost.exe is a core part of the Windows OS, it’s often used as a disguise by malware. This info may be helpful.
