In response to an AP interview that quotes me on forming a bloggers union, a Mikey Cobain writes:
There are plenty of fucked up people writing some seriously stupid and warped bullshit on the internet. But I have to say, you are right up there at the top. Queen of the extreme wacko fucked-up morons. Aren’t your proud?
To which I replied, “How nice of you to respond. Thank you for writing.” After all, I am a double Libra and manners are always important.
UPDATE: And by the way, the reporter gives the impression that I want bloggers to have health insurance because it’s stressful sitting at the computer all day. Those were two different points, and I wasn’t the one who connected them.
I’d pointed out the need for health insurance (I used Jim Capozzolla as an example, and his medical problems sure as hell weren’t from blogging) and the second was to rebut this image of serious political bloggers as hobbyists. I also pointed out that reporters work an eight-hour shift and go home, while bloggers are working 24/7.
What she wrote sounded different. Of course, I have no way of knowing how her editor hacked the story, or whether this was chopped for length by the paper who printed it.
*Sigh.* Now you understand why people are so paranoid about the press, and why they go out of their way not to say anything meaningful to them. That’s what PR is all about.

Here’s another lovely example of Mikey’s fine editorials:

Thank you, Ass. That was most informative. Apparently Mikey has anger management issues.
[...] If you read the Associated Press article, A Union For Bloggers?, understand that the quote from Susie Madrak are her words, but not necessarily in that order, or with that intent. [...]
