Time to Go

As I said, one of the reasons I’m happy to move on is that I’m not feeling as safe here as I used to, what with several recent armed robberies in the neighborhood.
Yesterday I took a shortcut to work, and right around the corner, I passed one of those huge piles of stuffed animals and artificial flowers that signifies an urban street death. Today I did a news search for that block and found this:
In a separate crime, police were called to the 6600 block of Ross Street in East Mount Airy and found a 30-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound. The victim was not identified, and police were investigating.
Yeah, it can happen anywhere. But it happened here.

How did you format your search query, and which search engine? There’s a really scary awful intersection near my house in Atlanta that I saw a horrific accident at and there was nothing in the local news, much to my surprise. I’d like to somehow get more information - just to know if the victim lived or died…..
I just used Google News, the neighborhood and the name of the street.
time to go girl, anyway, you’ve probably gone and tapped close the box with your wallet, the fragments of your glasses, and your cell phone, and the labeled side isn’t facing out.
oh, that was my last move. sorry!
By the time you get this, dear:
Welcome to your new home! I need an address to send your housewarming gift.
Other readers, use Suze’s paypal link to help her upgrade to this new apartment, she’s going to need a few things. And the sinking economy means she doesn’t know how long she’s going to have her job.
As she always points out, we’ve had 250 years to decide what we are going to do for our most vulnerable rather than screw them and we haven’t figured that out yet.
Consider this an invitation to a weekend housewarming party for Susie. That’s what I’d be doing if I were in Philly instead of starting a new job in DC. Hell, I’d be the person bringing that Egg McMuffin, since I can’t carry any of the boxes. But I can cheer from the sidelines, which is what I’m doing here.
Good Luck!!!
I just moved to Philadelphia from DC - Moving SUCKS!!!
My best suggestion - the best thing I got for helping move was this - Stretch wrap:
you can find it at lowe’s
I seriously don’t think I would have survived without it.
Again - Good Luck!!!
My mother grew up in Mt Airy. Urban warfare in Carpenter’s Woods just doesn’t seem right.
Susie - Glad you’re getting out of Philly (avg. 5 shootings per day). Where are you moving to? I don’t know where it’s safe anymore. We just had a triple homicide yesterday in Easton, PA (drugs/gang related).
