Why Isn’t Gore Running?

You are a Working Class Warrior, also known as a blue-collar Democrat. You believe that the little guy is getting screwed by conservative greed-mongers and corporate criminals, and you’re not going to take it anymore.

Please, Al, PLEEEEEEEEEEASE
He’s not running because he knows what will happen. In fact Gore’s been quoted as saying that politics in this country is frivolous, and that the work he’s doing can’t be accomplished in that sphere.
It is HIGHLY disingenuous for Newsweek to be publishing an article like that, as they were in on the gore smears of 2000. And look how it’s written:
more smearing right off the top.
Brendan nailed in in every respect.
Running for president nowadays is a soul-destroying thing
if the candidate is actually trying to win.
That’s why Repugs are good at it — they have no souls.
Sorry, in = it.
Brendan and Izquierdo are right on the money. Personally, I would love to have Gore as prez. Fortunately we are blessed with several strong Dem choices for president. In contrast the GOP roster is a pack of laughers.
Gore made the right choice - I think he has chosen: fighting for the survival of our little blue ball is immensely more important than running for prez. I don’t blame him for a second if that’s his decision.
“…Joe Biden is now the third best bet for the nomination. I’m hearing a lot of buzz about him from people who pay attention.”

1. “politics in this country is frivolous”
2. He’s found something else to do, something he’s been very effective in
3. How much crap does one guy have to sign up for in one lifetime?
In other words, what Brendan said.
Gore is to DLC for me :
- He did pick GOP Joe as a running mate , after all .
- And he pushed NAFTA - don’t forget .
Neither of those is frivolous in my book .
I think Gore has it over the other Dems in experience, vision, and world staure. Also, I believe he’d make a great president.
That said, however, Gore lacks one key quality without which one cannot be elected POTUS. Simply put, he doesn’t have the ambition. And that’s not a knock on the man.
Gore appears unwilling to do everything — and I mean EVERY THING — to win. He will not sacrifice his soul for the job. He won’t recast his global warming message to satisfy big business; he won’t sacrifice his core principles to raise the millions in cash required; and he doesn’t have the stomach to wade back into the cesspool of cretins, confidence men, and sharks that comprise the political world. In other words, he refuses to give up being a human being in order to grasp those levers of power in the White House.
Sorry to see him sit this one out, but we still have a good crop from which to pick. With varying degrees of enthusiasm, I can get behind any of the top tier Dems come next November.
That leaves Al Gore to continue fighting the good fight in ways that are acceptable to him.
I agree with Orson on the fact that all the republican candidates are jokes. But I disagree with the statement that there is several good choices on the Dem side. That field is also filled with jokes and opportunist who are just looking out for themselves .

Totally true. As it happens, i realized today that I hate the Democratic Party in Congress. I hate them with a passion that burns like a thousand white hot suns. I hate them as much as I hate the Republicans now.
They’ve betrayed our values (nationally AND as a party) on the altar of convenience and power. They are afraid to fight because fighting might mean losing power (and they don’t seem to recognize or care thsat NOT fightin gis going to have the same results). I have given to Chris Dodd this year and that is it. When the DCCC mailed me begging for funds last week, i wrote them a letter explainign why i i wasn’t giving, sealed it in their busieness reply envelope (and now, I didn’t save them postage by using my own stamp), and sent that right back to them.
I hate the Democrats. I HATE THEM.
