Yakity Yak, Don’t Talk Back

Or you get Tasered. This case is absolute bullshit - but a perfect example of the authoritarian mindset that’s taken over the country:
A police officer used a stun gun to subdue a woman who yelled at her in a crowded electronics store, and prosecutors are reviewing whether to pursue charges against the customer.
While Elizabeth Beeland was trying to purchase a CD player at a Best Buy on Nov. 26, she stepped outside to talk on her phone, leaving her credit card. Concerned about the sudden exit, a store clerk suspected Beeland was using a stolen card and called over a police officer.
Officer Claudia Wright wrote in a police report that when she approached, Beeland became “verbally profane, abusive, loud and irate.” She said she warned Beeland to calm down or face arrest.
In a video, Beeland is seen backing away and avoiding Wright, then crumpling to the ground after being hit with the Taser.
Wright was not disciplined, and police Chief Mike Chitwood defended her actions. Beeland was refusing an officer’s orders, and using a Taser avoided use of other weapons, he said.
This used to be a democracy. One day we’ll tell stories to our grandchildren…

A taser was meant to be used in place of a gun, It was not meant to be used to shut people up or to dole out street punishment. Tasered instead of shot is an ok bargain.
Tasered for any other reason, and the officer should be up for discipline.
Should be.
Fat chance.
You missed the best part — where the cops accused Beeland of “passive physical resistance.”
WTF?
Don’t tase me, sis.
I wonder what really happened — we are hearring only the
perpetrators’ side of the stpory.
Will disinterested eye witnesses back up their account?
One day, one of these cops will screw with someone like me, who has the wherewithal to disarm and disable said police officer and it won’t be pretty. You’ll be hearing about that soon enough, I believe.
Disgusting. A pretty young woman is abused by the police for speaking out loudly. She probably lost her cool when accused of card theft and its probably her first brush with the law. To use the taser was outrageous.
This was a sledgehammer to crack a nut or rather a sledgehammer to crush a nightingale.
The taser is a cruel and demeaning weapon which inflicts incredible pain. It is inhumane. In England we are going through a trial period with our armed response units using them and there is already indications of abuse.I will be watching what happens here.I hope Elizabeth sues the ass off the police and the store.Robocop was probably jealous of her good looks.
