C'mon, he has a point. According to polls at least half the country is currently opposed to Hillary because of the baggage she carries. He is trying to emphasize he doesn't have that baggage and can appeal to non-Democrats. Gore and Kerry obviously didn't attract enough independents and Republicans to win.
