Oddly enough, did you know the Chamber of Commerce takes rabidly right-wing positions the majority of its members oppose? Which makes you wonder exactly who they represent:
WASHINGTON — Alarmed at the increasingly populist tone of the 2008 political campaign, the president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is set to issue a fiery promise to spend millions of dollars to defeat candidates deemed to be anti-business.
“We plan to build a grass-roots business organization so strong that when it bites you in the butt, you bleed,” chamber President Tom Donohue said.
I love the smell of astroturf in the morning.
They represent Old Man Potter and Junior Soprano (Banking, Insurance & Defense) LLC.
Interesting that he equates using a front organization to
spend tens of millions on ads (and hide their true source)
with “the constitutional right to petition the government”.
