Republicans Are Good With Money

Everybody knows that! So I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that we see so many more stories like this when they’ve been in charge for a while:
TAMPA - The University of South Florida plans to cut more than $52 million from its budget during the next two years, a grim prospect that likely will force layoffs and could further reduce the number of students accepted.
Half of that comes this year and includes $12.2 million USF has cut as a result of a $1 billion state budget shortfall. Every public service from education to law enforcement has felt the pinch.
That’s just the start, however. State economists predict a $2 billion shortfall next fiscal year, a symptom of Florida’s housing woes that are depleting tax collections. Anticipating those bad times, USF leaders will spend the next two weeks considering how to cut $26 million more out of next fiscal year’s budget.

Good point. Republicans are very good with money. And for heaven’s sake let’s not raise taxes. That might hurt the People. Let’s just let the state run out of money so we can’t provide services or educate our children, which results in them being qualified for better jobs, which brings more economic stimulus to the state.
But wait, that’s long-term thinking. That means investing today in things that will benefit us long-term. That might mean changing silly property tax laws and revising the Bright Futures program and other money hog programs. Well, forget it. It’s much more important to be re-elected now than worry about ideas that make sense.
Their response to a 2 billion shortfall is a cut of 26 million! That is all of 1.3% of the shortfall. Wow, why bother!
Seriously we should start a “war on tokenism”. It is the first shot in trying to get substance replace form once again as the guiding principle behind our polity.
Republicans Are Good With Money. And of course I’m an excellent driver. Uh-oh, time for Wapner! time for Wapner!
Wapner?
Haven’t you heard of Dancing With The Stars?
