Lipstick On A Pig

Late yesterday I saw a piece on CNBC, I think, about how well-insulated Australia is from the rest of the world markets and thus a good place to move money. They call this theory - that foreign markets aren’t affected by ours - “decoupling.”
I see this morning the Australian market hit a record low.
When it comes to experts, I’d normally err on the side of caution. But the economic pundit class is motivated to put the best possible face on this market fall and it’s safe to assume that, with rare exceptions, whatever they admit, it’s actually much worse.
