That advice translated: Leave your dignity at home; become more submissive; bend over and grease your orifice (it’s the new definition of “flexible”; make yourself available for sexual favors. Feh. I’d rather die early without health insurance than exist as a half person and live as a supplicated slave. Some things are just not worth it; some things are worse than death. Americans just haven’t quite figured that out yet. When they do, watch your ass.
Personally, I feel the same. But not everyone has the freedom to walk away from a job.
True. Most people don’t even know they’re free. Now, if you please, just bend over a bit more …
If you really think that bend over and take it is a new phenomenon, well…
But on the other hand, my dead-end job as a convenience store clerk looks to be fairly recession-proof. Selling gasoline, cigarettes and beer will never go out of style.
The problem with the advice is of course it is all zero sum thinking. You can only improve your own chances at the expense of someone else.
