Blogs You May Have Missed

You can read Skippy for his explanation, but it’s as good a reason as any to link to some great blogs you might have missed:
Afro-Netizen. A very popular blog for engaged African-Americans that white people ignore.
Redsoxville. My friend Dr. S., former journalist and occasional contributor, in his continuing quest to get a gig at The Onion.
Alphabitch. Just a lovely little blog about a dog lover whose tastes are so much like mine, I have to check to make sure I didn’t move to North Carolina.
Powerpop. The proprieters are the only other people I know who get as excited about old pop songs as I do.
Pen-Elayne. One of the first blogs I ever read, Elayne continues to remind me to lighten up, blogging isn’t brain surgery.
My Gay Nerve. Because nepotism is alive and well.
The American Street. Kevin Hayden is also one of the earliest bloggers and has more team spirit than the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders.
Mahablog. Yeah, Barb gets awfully pissed off sometimes for a Buddhist, but she’s always thought-provoking and all deep and shit.
The King of Zembla. Because he’s always right. And besides, he’s kinda cute.
Strudel & Shotguns. The word is “attitude.”
Joe Bageant. Everyone should read Joe. Underneath his elegant and funny prose are some damned sharp insights on class and poverty in America.
The Fat Lady Sings. Because she’s a damned good writer, that’s why.

Thanks, my friend. And I return the compliment. You are always a joy to read! Sorry I’ve been a bit absent. Working on Kelley’s MOM for The House campaign has been a 17 hour a day job - especially with the primaries nigh. That’s what I meant about my brain needing a vacation. Today I am scripting a ½ hour radio interview (basic outline, topics to be covered, pithy one-liners). Then there’s Tuesday’s big debate (all the candidates – not just her primary opponent). Kelley’s a natural speaker – but like anyone who’s passionate about certain subjects – she can wax lyrical at the drop of a hat. I need to help her laser in on what’s essential, and deliver it in 30 second sound bites. Not as easy as one might think. Add in her media event with Ed Begley Jr. (did you know he has endorsed Kelley’s campaign? Ed agrees with her environmental stance) and you can see why I really need my books for brief mental vacations. From now until her March primary election we will be drowning in work. Wish us luck!
Thank you so much, Susie! I just got through doing my own B.A.D. post in which I pretty much blame myself for so many of my former blogroll buddies deserting me, and you have no idea how happy I am that you’re not one of them! I continue to read and cherish your blog, and thank you for sticking by me!!
