I can’t wait to get this piece of crap off my computer. It doesn’t work properly with any of my peripherals.

Well there is a free alternative. Try Ubuntu Linux. Installs easily, completely free, no virus problems, no malware or spyware and you do not contribute to Bill Gates. Your peripherals should work just fine.
Agreed. I’ve been running Ubuntu on an old Dell Latitude for over a year, and it rocks!
There are lessons to be learned from the Open Source community.
I’m actually pitching that at Black Cat Computers - the ninety bucks plus a hundred labor is more cost effective for my clientel than the four to five hours (@ fifty an hour, min) it takes to disable all the spyware in Vista and make it run somewhat like they’re accustomed to. If they still want to run a Win OS. I’m still with XP Media w/SP2, but my next purchase will be a Mac…
Then there’s Mac. No muss, no fuss.
Turn it on and drive.
when my (third in less than 5 years) laptop suddenly died last summer i was afraid i would have to replace it, and started searching frantically for ones that had xp on them. fortunately a reformatting fixed it but anyway…i have never loved windows, but it’s what i started out on, well after dos that is. most of my friends use macs but i just can’t get the hang of them. i hate them visually. i do have that added brain injury problem that makes it so hard to learn anything new, which is probably my biggest obstacle to switching to mac, but even so. i can’t stand that they don’t have delete and backspace options, and i’d have to change a 15 year habit of cursor positioning, and i want a one button window maximizer, or always open maximized option. maybe these do exist and my friends never use them so can’t show them to me. so mac users, if you can tell me how to do those things i will make the switch when this piece of shit dies.
i bought a machine with vista on it a few weeks ago and quickly developed a seething hatred for both the operating system and the computer itself. luckily it was quick enough to be within dell’s return policy deadline. i sent it back and got a mac. now i’m happy as a clam (if clams are indeed happy)
