But if we had national health insurance, you might have to wait six months before you get a knee replacement!
ATLANTA — A nationwide study has found that the uninsured and those covered by Medicaid are more likely than those with private insurance to receive a diagnosis of cancer in late stages, often diminishing their chances of survival.
The study by researchers with the American Cancer Society also found that blacks had a higher risk of late diagnosis, even after accounting for their disproportionately high rates of being uninsured and underinsured. The study’s authors speculated that the disparity might be caused by a lack of health literacy and an inadequate supply of providers in minority communities. The study is to be published online Monday in The Lancet Oncology.

Hey, if you need a knee replacement can’t you just show up in the emergency room and get one for free?
Culling the herd. Apparently if you are poor you don’t deserve to live. After all, deserving, talented people rise to the top. The wealthy deserve their privilege. The younger you die, the better, as there is less chance of you passing on your flawed genes.
It has long been my contention that had I not had insurance at the time through the college, my ex-wife would not have been diagnosed with breast cancer. To be honest, I don’t believe she had cancer. That big, fancy medical center slash ‘world-class’ cancer treatment facility out there has to pay for itself somehow - motherfuckers suckered eighty grand out of my insurance, and thirty out of me. All things rolled into a ball, it ultimately cost the marriage, my job/’career’, my pension, and my relationship with my (late) father.
