Yeah, I'm tired of the primaries too. I was an Edwards guy.

So, I started digging in my musical collection and pulled out some Shawn Phillips. He's not anyone you ever hear on the radio or see on a music video. I only had 3 of his CD's (i have several LP's, but alas, no turntable anymore), so i started looking around and found out that "Faces" had been released on CD. That sucker is on order.

His music is sort of unclassifiable, but he's a great musician and has a tremendous singing voice. His lyrics can be dense, they are extremely thought provoking and subtle, and geez the man can sing and play.

Yakking about music is one thing...go listen:
          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56fuSS24kaY

That was released in 1974, written about another president, another war, but still relevent today.

If you like what you hear, try to order the CD's directly from his website, you can figure out the address. Part of the money goes to African charities.

He's touring the US in 2008 too. Bad news is no dates in Phila. He's great live, I saw him several times in the 70's and it was always a good show. May be time for a road trip.

Sorry to ramble but this guy has been described as the the "best kept secret in music" and people should really get a chance to hear what he's got to say. Dig around the website, it's not optimal but there's some interesting stuff (he gave guitar tips to Joni Mitchell, sang back up on a Beatles track).

I hope some of you get some enjoyment (enlightenment) from this.

Oh, check out David Bromberg too. Another under-rated musician, for another rant.

"Have fun on your tour"
Peace.

The primaries have gone on way too long; let's never start this early again. I just try to keep a couple of things in mind:
1) For the first time ever we will have a realistic opportunity to elect a black man or a woman to the office of POTUS.
2) Although neither of the remaining candiates were in my top 3 choices, either one will have my full support come November.

Even a small step to the left is an improvement over the abyss on our right. It is impossible to expect that we as a nation can get all the way back on track in a single presidential term.

Keep looking forward as the work is only beginning. We have a long list of broken issues to resolve, (Iraq, IRS, DoJ, healthcare, media ownership, corporate greed, etc.), and the Shrub has left thousands of sleeper cells sprinkled through every department of the federal government.

What else is going on? My 13-year-old daughter was snowed in yesterday in Athens due to a freak blizzard. She's on a field trip to Greece with a dozen other middle-schoolers, and a couple of teachers. They had to cancel a cruise to one of the outer islands, due to NO public transportaion. The whole city was shut down.
