Once a hound, always a hound:
WASHINGTON — Early in Senator John McCain’s first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.
A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, visiting his offices and accompanying him on a client’s corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.
I would say, just to be consistent, that I just don’t care who’s banging who - as long as they’re not trying to make me into a criminal if I do the same thing.
UPDATE: Josh says he thinks there’s more that was left out of the story.

Susie,
to do “the same thing”, you’d have to have senatorial-level influence, which could be corrupted by banging a lobbyist. While your blogospheric power is legendary, I have a hard time seeing any quid-pro-quo banging to get on your blogroll getting to the level of “criminal”.
Having sex with lobbyists is probably a slightly more direct version of what goes on anyway.
Give them a break! She was just his “minder” taking him here and there to perform his “corporate” duties.
Has anyone noticed that this took place during the time that wife Cindy was hooked on prescription drugs (even stealing them from her self-created nonprofit)? I guess we now know why John didn’t notice Cindy’s problem.
