This has been a bad week... Buddy Miles on Tuesday, and now Mike Smith. What a great rock vocalist he was.

The Dave Clark 5 was popular just about the same time as the Beatles hit the states and for a 9- or 10-year-old, they were just as good. The sound was distinctive... both the sax and the organ. Obviously, they weren't the Beatles, but they were still pretty darn good.

I had the 45, of I like it like that. I'd forgotten that sound, with the sax. No wonder they were so distinctive.
