The Crash in Republican Economics

I was reading this Salon piece about the financial crisis, and was struck by this comment from the senior policy adviser of John McCain (who, if you recall, “doesn’t do” economics):
Senator McCain has complete confidence in Chairman Bernanke and the actions of the Federal Reserve, and is committed to ensuring the economy continues to grow — because no government program or policy is a substitute for a good job. John McCain understands the federal government’s responsibility to ensure the stability of the US financial system, and is equally committed to protecting the pocketbooks of hardworking American families.
Simultaneously trashing government programs and acknowledging government responsibility to ensure financial stability! Strangely, McCain made no mention of the Great Depression or tax cuts that benefit the wealthy.
In a possibly related vein, the Wall St. Journal poll this morning asked readers which presidential candidate was best equipped to handle the crisis.
John McCain was ahead by a mile.

I stumbled on c-span covering an HRC press-con about the economy; I was impressed.
And won’t it just be swell when the US voters decide they need a strong white man like McCain to fix all their problems, because they don’t trust a woman or a black man to do it?
Go Dems.
I wrote a post about this yesterday, challenging any remaining “fiscally conservative” republicans to defend themselves. I need help responding to them, they are a very demanding bunch!
