Huckabee on Wright

Mike Huckabee on Rev. Wright:
And one other thing I think we’ve got to remember: As easy as it is for those of us who are white to look back and say, “That’s a terrible statement,” I grew up in a very segregated South, and I think that you have to cut some slack.
And I’m going to be probably the only conservative in America who’s going to say something like this, but I’m just telling you: We’ve got to cut some slack to people who grew up being called names, being told, “You have to sit in the balcony when you go to the movie. You have to go to the back door to go into the restaurant. And you can’t sit out there with everyone else. There’s a separate waiting room in the doctor’s office. Here’s where you sit on the bus.”
And you know what? Sometimes people do have a chip on their shoulder and resentment. And you have to just say, I probably would too. I probably would too. In fact, I may have had a more, more of a chip on my shoulder had it been me.

It just goes to show you that people can be eternally surprising. Now I wish he were the repug candidate (not really, I don’t suppose it would make any difference). But imagine, just to say that much is so outstandingly broad-minded and generous that we actually notice its uniqueness. And that’s how bad it is, that no other (to my awareness) publiic figure has managed to mention that truth.
think of how awesome it would have been to hear HRC say this…even if she didn’t mean it…maybe it’s true that all the worst racists are democrats. instead, a GOPer says it and gets the “awww, that is so nice” attaboys…but I guess that was too much to ask of hrc and co. Too busy praising McCain foriegn policy (FP) expertise only to see him say complete BS/wrong information about Iran and AQI - 3 TIMES in 3 days. I guess that experience of his aint so great - and she wants us to remember she and mccrazypants have the experience in FP. yep, i wont forget it…
wonder if he could extend that empathy to include gays and lesbians.
nope. still okay to hate us, i think.
here is some interesting connection between the clintons and Wright

of course, i’m not saying the clintons knew or even were aware that certain type of rhetoric was being used at the Wright Church, but this does show Rev Wright was and continues to be a very highly respected member of the religious community both in and out of the “historically black church” environment…not a traitor or Clinton-hater.
Does this mean that we may see an Obama-Huckabee
ticket, to go along with McCain-Lieberman?
Tell the World about Trinity Church!
Also the truth about Senator Obama …
