I was going to say zenyenta, along the same lines, I don't find that ugly a side to either of my jobs right now - writing, and Starbucks; perhaps it's that when you do what you love - as long as you love doing it - there's not so much downside... maybe?

I found that to be very true in in my last job - vitamins and nutritional supplements - and to some extent in every private sector job I'd had before that. And yes, even volunteering for a political campaign was eye-opening in a bad way. I do have to say, working for the last few years for a non-profit legal services agency I haven't seen a dark side to that. Maybe a disorganized side, but no one that I've worked with has shown any signs of dark motivations. It's been a really nice five years.

I was thinking that when I worked in a photo lab, there was no dark side. But it was a professional photo lab, catering to advertising, and yeah, I was a woman there, too. I was just happier there than anywhere else.
And I suppose we should talk some about chemical sensitivities, and exposure to enough formaldehyde that I won't need embalming (photography relies on organic chemistry, after all). And my inability to cope with really bad photoshopping.

Wow. I don't think I ever appreciate Baldwin enough; that's brilliant. And, having worked in pharmaceutical marketing and Human Resources at an advertising agency... also quite true. Never mind what I learned about politics working on a campaign. :)
