“caught”?? as in “caught” in a blatant lie (cough - mispeak)??

I think the word “caught” should be used for times a candidate or senior campaign advisor/employee is seen doing something that flies against spoken policy/stance/proposal etc…maybe something like…oh I dunno…maybe Mark Penn, sr hrc campaign mgr, lobbying for Columbian Trade Agreement when HRC policy is firmly against it??? Penn says he was acting as a lobbyiest and not as HRC official…obv conclusion is hrc will bring people into her circle that may have their own agendas???

The point is that as a member of the media, he’s suffering a sense of betrayal from a politician that’s the result of his own psychological projections. I thought we were buds! Why would he lie to me like that? It’s all about Jake, you see.

I have never smoked a cigarette in my life, but I HAVE reeked of cigarette smoke from being in proximity to others who were smoking. It clings strongly to certain fabrics and to hair. I used to shower immediately upon returning from a visit to my stepfather because the smell of my own hair almost nauseated me.

I understand that this may have absolutely nothing to do with the smell of smoke on Obama, but for an alleged “reporter” to jump to one conclusion without even asking when there is a simple and well know alternate cause is just sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.

but yeah, considering all the other reasons to be for or against somebody, whether they’re sneaking a cigarette when they say they’re not doesn’t seem all that important to me.

That isn’t how campaigns work, and Tapper obviously knows that. You don’t say ANYTHING to the press that hasn’t been approved. They go to the candidate and say, “He wants to know…” and then they’re told what to say.

Except that Tapper never asked Obama. He asked the Obama campaign. Who knows why the campaign answered the way they did - maybe Obama lied to them; maybe they assumed he wasn’t smoking.

When Obama was asked directly, he gave an honest answer.

I think you missed the bigger point…we ‘expect’ them to lie about stuff like NAFTA and pulling the troops out of Iraq but little shit like smoking…that’s not forgivable.

I sort of get Tapper’s point though…if he can’t fess up to something as insignificant as sneaking a cigarette, how can you expect him to be honest about the important stuff.

I’ll give Tapper a little credit…he has abused everyone and this doesn’t appear to be a personal vendetta against a single candidate.
