Despicable

The more I think about last night’s debate, the more disgusted I get. The Bill Ayers-Weather Underground question was just despicable, and Obama’s answer was appropriate - as in, WTF? Now I’m responsible for anyone I ever came into contact with?
Who the hell wrote those questions, anyway - Rush Limbaugh?
Oh well. It’s not as if we have anything else to talk about.

not Rush, HANNITY…
I drove home from work last night and heard the exact same questions being proposed on that show.
Yup. It was diarioed at dailykos: stephanopoulus was on the show, literally TAKING NOTES from Hannity.
Simple disgraceful.
Clinton trying desperately and dishonestly to misapply Ayers interview answers that were given BEFORE 9-11 and had absolutely NOTHING to do with those attacks is also despicable. The chest thumping, flag waving, “my city”, “I suffered more than you did” bullshit was sickening. She should be ashamed
From NYT article this morning:
“Mr. Ayers did not make the remarks after the attacks on the World Trade Center that day. The interview had been conducted earlier, in connection with a memoir that he had published, “Fugitive Days,” and he was referring to his experience in the Weather Underground.”
dude…those remarks ran in the NYT on 9/11/2001
The coincidence and its significance is not lost on some people.
But Obama apparently was on to Hannity since he came prepared to slime Hillary with 2 pardons that Bill gave as if she were responsible. It was exemplary of the ‘politics of hope’ campaign that he is running and definitely in keeping with his expressed desire not to keep fighting the battles of the past.
If he outright lied about his writing notes on the margin of the handguns questionnaire he will be ruined…don’t think that this is going to go unnoticed.
dude? (I’m a grandmother 4 times over - I don’t get referred to as “dude” very often) - Clinton clearly made a concerted effort to bamboozle people into believing that those comments referred to the 9-11 bombing itself. She had ME convinced until I read the facts this morning. She keeps inching closer and closer to repulsing me so thoroughly that I will be unable to vote for her and I am as anti McCain as any Democrat I know, and I know quite a few. My first campaign work was for McGovern in ‘72.
Obama’s response was measured and reasonable. he said if that association applies to him then by Clinton’s own standards this other one also applies to HER. The pardon happened when Clinton was, by her own “experience” claims, a major player in the Clinton presidency, and very “experienced” adult. She DID NOT speak out against these pardons! The deeds Obama is supposed to repent happened when he was 8 years old and thousands of miles away.
Hypocrisy much?
I don’t know. I loved the “is your wardrobe patriotic enough to be President” video and what’s up with Charles “Is My Hair Injection Molded?” Gibson’s fascination with the capital gains task? Has he got some property he can’t fglog until sometime in the next administration?
“Obama … came prepared to slime Hillary with 2 pardons that Bill gave as if she were responsible. It was exemplary of the ‘politics of hope’ campaign that he is running and definitely in keeping with his expressed desire not to keep fighting the battles of the past.”
Well put.
And, grandma of 4 impressionable kids, wise up: “The deeds Obama is supposed to repent happened when he was 8 years old and thousands of miles away.”
Wrong. The deeds Obama is supposed to repent are recent. He went to the weatherman’s house to get introduced to the community. He worked alongside the weatherman. He took the weatherman’s money for his campaign in 2001.
Keep swallowing Obama’s distractions and blame Clinton because her VERY clear remarks were misinterpreted by your addled brain. Of course the weatherman was refering to his own bombings. And that makes his remarks better, how?
Well Zee, several major newspapers have also noted Hillary’s running together 9-11 with the Ayers interview in a manner cleverly designed to make it appear that his comments were about 9-11. She doesn’t seem to be able to decide whether she wants to be the new Huckabee or the new Giuliani.
This old grandma’s brain isn’t quite so addled as your snotty nosed ageist brain perceives.
Hillary’s words:
“If I’m not mistaken, that relationship with Mr. Ayers on this board continued after 9/11 and after his reported comments, which were deeply hurtful to people in New York, and I would hope to every American, because they were published on 9/11 and he said that he was just sorry they hadn’t done more. ”
Reality:
The Ayers interview was done weeks before 9-11 and he immediately wrote a letter decrying the attack that was widely published.
There is a wide chasm between reality and Clinton’s right wing style attack.
memyself @ 5
I’m quite certain that Hillary gives people credit for knowing that it was 19 Al Qaeda people who commandeered the 4 planes on 9/11/2001. She didn’t conflate Ayers with that act but she did make note of the peculiar coincidence of Ayers interview appearing in the NYT on the same day and saying that he wishes he had done more bombing as a proverbial stick in the eye. Apparently you don’t think that valid…I’m sorry. Myself, I was very much from that time frame and harbor no animus towards Ayers or Dohrn myself and think this is a non-issue but clearly there are some who do. If you think that you’ve heard the last of this, if Obama wins the nomination, the general election will disabuse you of this notion.
I agree that Obama was a kid when this all happened and the Ayers he knows now is not exactly the same as the Ayers then and frankly Scarlett, I don’t give a damn.
I did find it utterly low class that he came armed to slime her with her husbands pardon/commutation for 2 other Weather Underground…why?
* He deliberately chose to damage her to deflect criticism of himself
* He claims not to want to fight the wars of yesterday but he locked, loaded and fired and it didn’t seem to me that he wasn’t eager.
* She had nothing to do with the pardons.
* He dispelled all notions of ‘the politics of hope’
I won’t have a problem voting for Obama myself if he is the nominee. I don’t think he will make a good president, I don’t think he can beat McCain, I don’t think that he is at all genuine but no matter…McCain would be a complete disaster.
Lastly…you really need to put a check onto your characterizations…attacks are attacks. Both candidates are attacking. Obama’s daily campaign pressers are equally as negative as Hllary’s and you need to remove your rose colored glasses. These aren’t right wing attacks - these are attacks of a tight campaign that each side wants to win. That’s called politics.
“he came armed to slime her with her husbands pardon/commutation for 2 other Weather Underground…why?”
Oh for cripes sake, Clinton has been pounding the Ayers bullshit out for weeks, trying to get the MSM to pick it up. He had every reason to think she would pull her clearly pre-planned attack AGAIN. She is so predictable on this sort of crap. Being prepared to answer a slime attack is good campaign tactics. He didn’t bring the subject of the pardons up when Stephanopoulos asked his question or follow up, but then Hillary decided to pile on and pulled her “let’s pretend this is worse than it really is act”, then and only then did Obama respond by pointing out the bald faced hypocrisy of her faux outrage by giving a few actual facts.
She didn’t “make note of the coincidence” she intentionally morphed the two subjects together in a manner that anyone hearing her would interpret as Ayers saying he approved of the 9-11 attacks. It isn’t the first time she’s done this, so it is NOT an accident. That kind of deliberate misleading and swiftboating is very right wing in its origins.
I get it…IOKIYO
I mistook you for someone that I could reason with.
