I think it’s pretty clear that there’s fewer than .0000000001% of the American population that would be a WORSE President than George W. Bush. That includes infants. The threshold of that statement is almost nothing.

Geez, some folks really should have taken some logic or critical thinking classes along the way, let me explain the difference as simply as I can.

What Clinton said:
Clinton & McCain > Obama
What Obama said:
Clinton & Obama > McCain > Bush

You see how one of them made McCain a better choice than a Democrat? This is a significant difference and again speaks to the small difference between the campaigns, that Clinton is more willing to screw the party for personal gain, period.

I should note that I totally disagree with Obama and think McCain has the potential to be way worse than Bush and think the 12th commandment of Dems need to be “Thou shalt not speak nicely about republicans”.

P.S.The 13th would be to call them rethuglicans anytime they refer to the Democrat party

She’s making a point - that by comparison, Hillary’s comment on the relative reaching of the threshold for being Commander in Chief had the netroots all up in arms and this comment by Obama seems comparatively worse

huh? why is obama’s comment worse?

clinton said that she and mccain were better than obama. obama says that obama and clinton are better than mccain, but that mccain is still better than bush.

in other words to clinton:
clinton > mccain > obama

whereas to obama
obama > clinton > mccain > bush

see the difference? obama is placing both dems above both republicans. clinton, on the other hand, elevated mccain over her democratic rival. in my mind, that makes clinton’s comment worse.

but susie is also basically right. while i think obama’s comment was not as bad as clinton, it was a stupid thing for obama to say because it undercuts the mccain = bush 2 narrative. i also think the hubbub over clinton’s earlier comment, like virtually all the hubbubs in this race, was really overdone.

Except, of course, that Clinton didn’t insult Obama in her comment, merely challenged him to prove his bonafides, instead of relying on one obscure speech. The correct response would have been to lay out his qualifications instead of yelling, “No fair! No fair! Why should I have to take a test to pass the class? Just give me the A.”

Isn’t the real difference that Obama is saying something nice about McCain, while also saying something nice about Clinton; whereas the CIC threshold statement was a very nice thing to say about McCain (and in the eyes of this unity Democrat, very foolish; why is Hillary touting McCain’s bona fides?) , but a very negative thing to say about Obama?

I.e., Clinton is attacking a fellow Democrat to make a point, as opposed to Obama’s taking a swipe at Bush (let’s face it, my dog would have been a better President than George W. Clusterfuck) by saying, yes, McCain would be better than that steaming pile in the Oval Office.

Yes, I am that mythical unity Democrat. I support Obama but will pull the lever for Obama or Hillary, whoever, wins the nomination, in November. It matters to me who wins, but much more that we win the White House in November.

Back to real issues, please.

and he would be better than bush, and either clinton or obama would better than bush and mccain.

obama saying both dems are better than mccain, and mccain is better than bush, which means that he dems are better than mccain and the dems and mccain are better than bush is the same as clinton saying she and mccain are ready to be cinc but obama is not.
