That cold, technocratic approach to war and killing is one reason we always deplored the Nazis, with their efficient trains leading to efficient, bureaucratized death camps.
That’s why I’ve disliked Godwin’s law, because if you paint Nazis (or any other thugs) as supernatural boogeymen, instead of human beings who let their worst qualities twist them into evil, you blind yourself to the signs that you might be following the same fascist, perversely inhumane path.
