Carville almost had it right. Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Appalachia in between.
Rise, Hillary, Rise!

Izquierdo,

The T-section is basically anything except the Philly and Pittsburgh media markets. They tend to be rural or small town, and vote largely Republican.

<i>What/where is the T section of PA?</i>

PA is basically a rectangle. the two big cities, pittsburgh and philly are in the southwest and southeast corners, respectively. if you remove the entire metro area for those two cities (i.e. the cities and their suburbs), you take a big bite out of the two southern corners of the rectangle, thus removing the urban (and generally more liberal) voters. that leaves what is referred to as the T, because with those two bites, it kinda looks like a T.

culturally the T is thought to be different from the rest of the state. it isn't really fair, but james carvell famously referred to PA as "philadelphia, pittsburgh and alabama in between"

Joe Klein blogged his take of Obama seeming to have lost hope 3 or 4 days ago in the swamp. I don't know that it was PA, just the grind of campaigning or just general frustration that he seemingly lost media darling status.

and Brendan...we know what we saw. When we were kids, we learned how to play the games so we could deny what we did...we just stopped playing them somewhere in our teens. Obama was doing theater for his crowd, forgetting that he is on camera 24/7. In the end, it's only a big deal because it makes him look small.

Hillary goes to Pittsburgh Tribune and gets endorsement. She goes into the lion's den (Keith Olbermann) and does well, only to get savaged once she's off camera. Obama on the other hand, won't appear on Fox. Where's the courage here? Flipping the bird, brushing the dirt off your shoulder and scraping the poo off your shoes may be good theater but hardly qualifies as courageous acts.

your experience is the opposite of mine, dan.
by the way, <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/news/politics/elections/20080417_Daniel_Rubin__A_little_lesson_in_WAM_101.html" rel="nofollow">Hillary's not shellingout the bucks either</a>.

I'll take susie's claims with a grain of salt: after all, this i the same blog that thinks that Obama was flipping off clinton.

I voted just before 8:00 this morning in my inner-ring Philly suburb and was surprised by several things:

1. No line at all. This is unusual in even number year elections.

2. Only Hillary signs, no Obama.

3. Only Hillary worker inside, no Obama.

Not paying "Walking around money" may not be working well.
