And The Winner Is

I guess you knew this, but:
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) claimed a much needed victory over Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) in Pennsylvania tonight, her fourth victory in the last five contests in the Democratic presidential race.
ABC, NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel, the Associated Press and Reuters all declared Clinton the winner, and Clinton was also leading in the early vote returns. With 66 percent of precincts reporting, Clinton led Obama, 54 percent to 46 percent.
“It’s a long road to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and it runs right through the heart of Pennsylvania,” Clinton said at a victory rally in Philadelphia tonight. “You know the stakes are high and the challenges are great. But you also know the possibilities,” she told the assembled crowd that began chanting, “Yes We Can”, a takeoff on Obama’s familiar “Yes We Can” motto.
UPDATE: With 75% of the vote in, the PA Secretary of State has her margin of victory at 9%. And speaking of single digits…

Did I hear correctly that only 1 in 10 registered black voters came out to cast a ballot? Doesn’t that erase the argument that his voters will not vote for her in the general? If they missed the primary why would you consider they will come out in force in the general? The argument lacks substance if true.
No - turnout in Philly was awesome for Obama and gave him about 130,000 vote cushion but the problem for Obama was that he lost the rest of the state by 330,000 votes which is about a 200,000 popular vote/15 delegate gain (approximate).
Also - the final margin appears to be 10% - I’m not sure of the significance of crossing the 10% - everyone’s got an opinion on that but it seemed to move Wolf Blitzer.
Side note to lambert - approve my account please (signed up on Sunday)
And with 94% of the vote counted, it’s 55-45.
Let’s remember that a subset of the Obama rules applies to rounding.
That is, 9 does not round up to 10.
9.5 does not round up to 10.
9.9 does not round up to 10.
9.99 does not round up to 10…..
Actually lambert…there are mathematical terms such as ‘floor’ which always round down.
thus floor(9.99) =9
or in ruby (which is my preferred language), it would be
9.99.floor = 9
but the very definition of rounding would absolutely be
9.50000001 = 10
of course there is another concept called Intel Math…
I knew this.
Lambert, geek shit here, but back in the day I actually had one of the bad 90mhz Pentium chips. Didn’t make a turd’s worth of difference as far as anything, but I was still kind of giddy when I ran the test and saw that the bastard was off.
susie, thank you for linking to lambert. every little passive-aggressive juvenile fratboy coward who applauded that shit from obama deserves it. and lambert–thank you for showing them how a real man gets his message across.
Wow, Susie…your prediction of Clinton by 9.62% was really close to the mark.
Yeah, um, Susie…with Clinton winning by 9.38% you were only off by 0.24%. Your election predictions truly are awesome! You must be really smart or something.
I couldn’t have done it without you, Chris.
when, oh when, will I consistently ready the “posted by” lines? AND remember them from one day to the next. Probably never. Sigh.
Sorry Chris. You were amazingly on target. Props to Susie for having you posting here. Do you do stock market predictions too?
