I doubt you’d get any current civil rights leaders defending them today.
It occurred to me the other day - all the people who say it’s time for a black man to be president, so the white woman can wait - where were they four years ago when Carol Mosely Brown, a black woman, was running?
Great song … while Paulie was churning out cotton candy, Lennon was serving up real meals.
I don’t know what this “the white woman can wait” stuff is about, any more than I would understand “the black man can wait”. Thought we were supposed to be in this thing together. John and Yoko understood it.
What blows me away is the amount of mainstream coverage that was given this. The ideas were considered controversial, yet worthy of consideration.
It occurs to me that it might have been my age and place, but Cavett was very, very close to prime time, and on ABC. ‘Course, that was them glory days, back then.
