To Wendy Warren, the moving force behind the “norgs” conference a few years back. Wendy’s just one of those people who gets things done, and clearly sees the digital future. Good for her, good for the city of Philadelphia.

Wonder what this is about:
Boeing Co. abruptly shut down production of Chinook helicopters at its Ridley Township plant yesterday and summoned a U.S. Army investigative team after the company detected “possible manufacturing irregularities” in two of the combat helicopters, which cost up to $30 million apiece.
More than 100 Boeing workers were dismissed at midday, and […]

Big win in Mississippi:
JACKSON, MISS. — Mississippi Democrat Travis W. Childers won a special election to Congress on Tuesday, helping his party to a third victory this year for seats that had long been in Republican hands.
The victory puts Childers into the House seat vacated by Roger Wicker, a Republican appointed to the U.S. Senate […]

Yeah, this is what I hear from the people in my neighborhood:
CHICAGO (MarketWatch) — Consumers pinched by soaring prices for gasoline, granola and green grapes are increasingly looking at their stimulus checks as a means of making ends meet for at least a month or so.
A growing number of consumers told pollsters in at least […]

But on the bright side, those storage units can be attractive living spaces, given the right decor:
May 14 (Bloomberg) — U.S. foreclosure filings climbed 65 percent and bank seizures more than doubled in April from a year earlier as rates on adjustable mortgages increased and vacated homes added to a glut of unsold homes, RealtyTrac […]

With all these candidates throwing people under assorted buses, please, won’t someone do it with eternal underachiever Donna Brazile? She makes my hair hurt. Please, CNN, anyone but Donna. Thank you.

As a former midwife, it’s almost amusing to me when people put so much energy into rationalizing that C-sections and bottlefeeding are just equivalent “lifestyle choices.” (I recently stumbled across a long, impassioned comments debate on another blog that pooh-poohed the risks.) Sure, there are plenty of good reasons at times and of course women […]

Turns out there’s a little bit more to the story that says substantial numbers of Clinton and Obama voters would vote for McCain in the general election.
Once you remove the Republicans and independents who voted in open primaries, the numbers are actually much smaller.

That’s how many times those military “analysts” identified by the NYT were quoted, according to Media Matters.
And yet, no one else in your librul media seems to want to write about it. Interesting.

Who turned out to be not quite so dangerous or guilty:
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — The Pentagon has dropped charges against a Saudi at Guantanamo who was alleged to have been the so-called “20th hijacker” in the Sept. 11 attacks, his U.S. military defense lawyer said Monday.
Mohammed al-Qahtani was one of six men charged […]

Powerful look at how Latinos are systematically mistreated in the south:
Reverend Lowery, who now leads the Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda, has spoken eloquently and vociferously against what he considers “wicked” immigration policies and has attended pro-immigrant rallies. He believes that massive immigration to the United States came about because of the workings […]

They say it’s better than nothing, but sometimes I wonder:
Some public health experts are questioning why menthol, the most widely used cigarette flavoring and the most popular cigarette choice of African-American smokers, is receiving special protection as Congress tries to regulate tobacco for the first time.
The legislation, which would give the Food and Drug Administration […]
