Access for Sale

A lobbyist with close ties to the White House is offering access to key figures in George W Bush’s administration in return for six-figure donations to the private library being set up to commemorate Bush’s presidency.
Stephen Payne, who claims to have raised more than $1m for the president’s Republican party in recent years, said he would arrange meetings with Dick Cheney, the vice-president, Condoleezza Rice, the secretary of state, and other senior officials in return for a payment of $250,000 (£126,000) towards the library in Texas.
Payne, who has accompanied Bush and Cheney on several foreign trips, also said he would try to secure a meeting with the president himself.

Let us never forget that while Mr. Payne is undoubtedly sleaze, he couldn’t sell this access if the criminals masquerading as high government officials in this corrupt administration would not cooperate.
OTOH, do you suppose that this means that Georgie Boy is having trouble raising money for his shrine?
Yes, Payne is just an inconsequential go-between.
It’s the corrupt administration that’s selling access.
Payne was just being a good Republican. Please note the important points, the split was one third for the Liberry and two thirds for himself and he didn’t mention the Lincoln bedroom.
He won’t need to raise much $$$ anyway…I mean, how expensive are comic books (pre-highlighted in yellow), flash cards and ad-libs? It’ll be a small library, roughly the size of a Tardis, with no access to the public. No worries.
well, at least he’s not selling access to the lincoln bedroom. that’s worth weeks of hand-wringing on the teevee. once again IOKIRDI
