Let’s Pretend

That Nancy Pelosi will actually do something about this:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Judiciary Committee has voted to hold former White House strategist Karl Rove in contempt of Congress for ignoring a subpoena to testify.
Voting along party lines Wednesday, the committee said Rove broke the law by failing to appear at a July 10 hearing on allegations of White House influence over the Justice Department, including whether Rove encouraged prosecutions against Democrats.
The committee decision is only a recommendation, and it was unclear whether Speaker Nancy Pelosi would allow a final vote.
Ah, Nancy. We used to have high hopes for you. Now you’re a joke.

“subpoena power”. Remember that?
Good times, great oldies.
Let’s be comforted by the physiology of the thing too: If we hold our breath long enough, waiting for Nancy Pelosi to do anything about holding Rove in contempt of Congress — a view of Congress which Rove may well be justified in,based on Congress’s inertia over the last couple of years –
– physiology kicks in, we pass out, and automatically breathing begins again.
Hurrah.
This is slightly different from the mechanism that would cause fainting if Pelosi actually did do something about it, although superficially they look a lot alike.
With kind regards,
Dog, etc.
