And while we’re covering the sins of the NYT let’s not forget

(1) the Whitewater scandal, which the NYT was instrumental in creating and which it launched on the national scene,

(2) the Wen Ho Lee prosecution, where, once again, credulous (that’s being charitable) NYT reporters took one crank’s accusations and turned Lee into a master spy (and, in the real world, helped spur a prosecution that fell apart when it came time to prove it, but still got Lee months of solitary confinement while the government tried to put him away for 100 years or more http://www.thenation.com/doc/20001023/scheer),

(3) Judy Miller and Michael Gordon’s work on Iraq and, to a lesser extent, Iran. She’s gone, he’s not.

The fact is that the National Enquirer has higher standards.

Hillary channeling Tubman to equate Republicans with barking dogs and savage slave owners was brilliant, just brilliant, and the dogs are still whining about it.

The NYT article is just another yelp from those pups, and, therefore, music to my ears.

Fact checking Ms. Tubman’s words is impossible! The woman said that to slaves running to freedom in the dead of night, and they told their children what she said, and they told their children…and GoodLordAlmighty, there may have been a children’s book in the ’50’s where that oral tradition was put on paper for the first time.

Obviously written to inspire African-American children, not white girls like Hillary…she picked it up anyway, and totally GOT it.

I’m with you, Susan. Somerby is the best at what he does, and who he skewers.

I’ve taken some time to find out a way to mail some of his posts to Maureen, but have had no luck. It would be great fun for me.

Does anyone you know have any reasonably direct contact information for her? I’d love to become one of her biggest fans. LOL.
