During my days at Cullinet, once or twice a summer a bunch of us would head down to “The Tap Room” in Chesapeak City for several bushels of crabs and a lot of beer. Much better than DiNardo’s !!

While growing up in Virginia back in the ’50s & ’60s a common weekend excursion was to Maryland for Slots & Crabs !
Slot-machines were legal in Maryland, and all aong the Chesapeak were hundreds of crab shacks with slot rooms. Family and friends would pile into our Chevy Station Wagon (a ‘57 Nomad)
and we sat at long tables with a big roll of brown paper at one end.
The servers would pull out a big sheet of paper across the length of the table, dump the crabs down and we kids would dig in, smashing those suckers with all our might while the grown ups shoved nickels in to the slots (remember, this was the 60’s when a nickel still bought things)
