It’s a little odd that the McCain campaign actually seems to be either the source, or the the driving force behind getting some of the more tawdry rumors about Gov. Palin into the traditional press. What the fuck are they thinking?
If I had to guess, my thought would be that they are trying, however ineptly, to bait the Obama campaign, or one its surrogates, into saying something really stupid. That, or at least a few insiders, and maybe McCain himself (isn’t the rumor that he really wanted Joementum?), are really pissed off about this pick.
…Adding: Or more plausibly, they’re trying scare the press into playing nice.
