You can never know for sure until they’re in office, but I suspect Al Franken will be a great progressive voice in the tradition of Paul Wellstone. If he doesn’t get elected, we’ll never know.

My fond hope is that Al’s election, followed by his speeches delivered on the floor of the Senate, makes the workings of congress something that actually is of interest to the public.
Well, okay, I admit it. I want to see Al’s not-so-sly jabs at repug targets like Vitter. Why, if *I* was the majority leader, I’d give Al an hour of speaking time on a regular schedule, and made sure that CSPAN carried it.
You’re wrong about Franken. If you had listened to his Air America Radio show, you’d know that he’s a center-right establishmentarian, just like Obama. No Wellstone, he.
