I was talking to Dr. S. yesterday, who was nagging me to see if I could get him tickets to see the Sox in the playoffs. I told him I thought it was going to be the Rays and the Phillies in the World Series.
“Why root for the Rays?” he said.
“They’re one of those teams of destiny,” I said. “I think they’re going to beat the Sox.”
“Wouldn’t it stand to reason that if they’re a team of destiny, you wouldn’t want them playing the Phillies?” (He’s such a spoilsport.)
But no, I do. I think it would be an amazing Series, and really, isn’t that what fans want?
Plus I think it would be a better match up for the Phils and would avoid having to open in Fenway. Which is a true gem of a park but a very hostile environment
