This should be an oped in all the major papers in the country. It not only clarifies the crisis but also the ostrich behavior of the seemingly disinterested observers.

This comes uncomfortably close for me. In 1997 my wife was murdered by her then 18 year old oldest son; my stepson. And I did forgive him, though I never was able to tell him, because he took his own life 2 weeks later. My younger stepson continues to be an important part of our blended family.
Perhaps it’s time for me to write about how I dealt, and sometimes didn’t, with this. One year after the murder I got great relief, with a lot a pain, writing a Friend of the Court brief on behalf of a young woman about the problems faced living with an ASPD child.
[Note: ASPD is Anti-Social Personality Disorder. This designation is typically not given until the person is 18. For a teenager it would be called Oppositional Defiant Disorder.]
