the AP, although disingenuous, is half right. Obama owns this, although not as much as BP.
If president Hopey McChangey hadn’t executed a triple back flip on offshore oil drilling from what Candidate Hopey McChangey ran on, he could credibly go on TV and say “see, this is why I opposed John McCain and sarah Palin’s ‘drill baby drill’ proposal. We need to transition even more quickly to clean renewables.”
But he can’t do that now. Shit, just a few short weeks ago he was saying “It turns out, by the way, that oil rigs today generally don’t cause spills. They are technologically very advanced,” in another fun round of Punch the Hippie. And now he just looks stupid.
I’m always trying to walk that fine line between disgust for the media and disgust for Obama’s policies.

Gov. Crist declares state of emergency for Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Bay and Gulf Counties in Florida. That is quite a way from the spill ground zero. I think this spill is much bigger than we are being told. I am heading to the Big Bend area next week. I don’t know whether to take my kayak or a big bottle of Dawn soap.
This is so very, very sad. That area is my favorite outdoor get away area. I am so afriad of the oncomimg damage to this beautiful coastal area. I pray they can plug that well up soon.

Does anybody else remember an article that was floating around a couple of years ago, saying that the godhead or whatever of BP was talking about investing in green technologies because oil would be done soon?
