It’s a side issue at the very most, but I’m getting awfully fed up with the Professional Journalist™ “conservative vs. liberal” Supreme Court boilerplate that’s so often used to describe a 5-4 split between right-wing and centrist Justices. I don’t believe the Post (or NPR, where I heard the same lazy description from the superlatively mediocre Steve Inskeep this morning) would know an actual liberal if one suddenly leapt up and bit them in the ass.
