Ergonomics

Trying to stay on top of ergonomic issues is like plumbing — I gave up on the do-it-yourself variety decades ago because no matter what you did or how well you planned, the thing that’s connected to the thing you’re fixing is going to break, or the next piece over — and your local store won’t have the replacement.

I have an ergonomic keyboard tray with a basic ergonomic keyboard. (Not the one I really like, because every time I plug that one in, it eventually crashes the computer. Same thing with the “handshake” mouse. No, it’s not the drivers. I’m done torturing myself with all this stuff.)

So I have a Glidepoint mouse, a square thingie with a touchpad and buttons, and an elastic compression glove. The mouse doesn’t hurt my wrist the way a regular mouse does, but it pulls at certain muscles in my upper arm and they hurt all the time. Lately, I’ve been wrapping my entire arm in an Ace bandage, and that helps. But I only have one, so I take turns, depending on which arm hurts the most. What I really need are elastic sleeves. Sigh.

Just so you know why my posts are so short these days.
