Candice Bergen is a greatly underrated comedic actress. Her performance in “Starting Over” was fantastic, and pretty damned brave. She plays an aspiring songwriter married to Burt Reynolds. She dumps him to find herself (hey, it was the Seventies!) but tries to lure him back with this song after she finds out he’s got a girlfriend (Jill Clayburgh). The music was written by Carole Bayer Sager, and I have to laugh every time I hear it, because Bergen sounds just like her:
