  1. My favorite was the 25% of respondents who’d used food stamps. Talk about cognitive dissonance.

But all the good public relations in the world is not going to cover up the stink of our current corrupt, sociopathic government. Yes, it oversees the national parks. But it also lends billions to Goldman Sachs for zero interest, it also continues unjustified and brutal wars, it also disenfranchises the many to appease the few. Everyone sees it. The question is whether we can do anything about it.

  2. “Those kinds of wingnuts” famously includes Mr. “I was on unemploymen, I was on foodstamps and nobody helped me!” Craig T. Nelson.

But then there are all those families where Dad was able to go to college on the G.I. Bill and start a career that paid for the kids to go to college… but the kids are self made – right?

I hate to break it to all those Tea Bagging assholes – but the America that they’re so nostalgic for was build on liberal ideals and wrecked by greedy capitalists. They like to point out that the words “wall between Church and State” don’t actually appear in the Constitution. But neither do “Capitalism” or “Free enterprise”.
