  1. The GOP doesn’t hate consumers, they hate consumer protection. If the consumers come to expect to actually receive the goods and services they pay for, then somebody would have to provide those goods and services and that would cut into profits. Since the Citizens United ruling has become the law of the land, the profits have become so important to our political system. Last century we suffered through the one-person-one-vote process as laid out in the US Constitution and succeeding amendments. Now we have the much more efficient one-dollar-one-vote, so you can see how profits are transformed into political power which can then be used to write laws to increase profits. Woe be unto anyone that stands in the way of this spiraling end game to capitalism.
