“Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview [Washington] early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.”
Historically, the ILA was the mob-controlled “sweetheart” union (think “On The Waterfront”). There’s a real union organizing the docks now, and I’m guessing the ILA wants to maintain control.
Off topic, but this seems significant. Haven’t seen any bloggers mention it yet today.
