It was remote in 1969 and except for the anti-war movement the oligarchy cared less about the other social issues being protested against/for by the Left or the Right. The WWII generation was owed big time and the oligarchy saw to it that they were paid off and silenced. But those damn Baby Boomers and their kids were going to be a problem. The oligarchy’s solution to that problem was to strip them of their accumulated wealth and make sure that their wages would never keep up with inflation and increasing productivity. In essence make indentured servants out of them and their children and grandchildren.
