Timely, to be sure, but…well, let’s just say it’s Mike Love’s version of the Beach Boys and leave it at that. The consolation is that side 2 of the album–erm, later on the CD, I mean–are two Brian Wilson gems that still send shivers up my spine, “Til I Die” and “Surf’s Up”. A few decent Carl Wilson tunes, as well.
