    Democracy Now!’s first segment this morning was with Patrick Seale, a Middle East expert with special interest in Syria. The transcript should be up later today; video is available now.

    What’s going on right now is Israel and the US are working to establish complete hegemony in the Middle East. The US had a big setback when Iraq went Shiite; Israel had one when it was unable to smash Hezbollah when it attacked Lebanon. The Saudi-Qatar duo want to get rid of a non-Sunni government in Syria, the better to counter possible Iranian power in the region.

    If we really think we’re going to be able to control what happens if we impose Bush/Cheney-type “chaos” –aka illegal war– on Syria, we may just get another really unpleasant surprise.

    I think it’s time to realize one cannot believe the US government’s pronouncements and planted media reports, especially about the Middle East and about any area with carbon resources to still be extracted.

    But if you still trust the government, at least try to verify.

    jawbone, we’ve (USA) already imposed chaos on Syria in the same way that we imposed chaos on Libya. The CIA and Mossad stirred the Syrian pot. The next step was to get the UN to allow NATO to bomb the place just like we did in Libya. Fortunately the Russians and Chinese have had quite enough of USA and Israel shit. But there is good news. Except for Netanyahu. Yesterday Hamas and Fatah (PLO) reconciled and formed a unity government. Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) will head this unity government. This is a positive long-term development for this region for a variety of reasons.

    I, personally, have grown a bit tired of being Israel’s bitch.

    “Israel” is a Terrorist State. The Mother of All Terrorist States. An utterly foreign occupier perpetrating an “American” Taxpayer financed and morally sanctioned genocide upon the indigenous descendants of the “biblical” Hebrew; who has attacked our ships and our sailors and soldiers, murdered our students and only just last week called for your assassination. “Israel”, is not our friend.

    Nor are the “Christians” any friend to “Israel”, their support for her isn’t of altruistic love: in order for their precious lord and master to come floating down out of the heavens on a flying white horse with thousands of flying sidekicks to carry the faithful away to paradise two thirds of Israel and two thirds of the “Jews” must be destroyed. They don’t want to save Israel, they want it destroyed.

    personally, i would trust the western media (not to mention al jazeera) over an arab league report.

    and i see imhotep thinks that the syrian uprising is nothing but a CIA/mossad plot (in fact, the chaos in syria terrifies the israelis). rather insulting to the protesters, isn’t it?
