  1. Thanks for this, Suze! Takes me back to Detroit during the early years when Motown promoted the “Motown Revue” every year between Xmas and New Years Day at the Fabulous Fox Theatre on Woodward Avenue. The late Syreeta Wright-Wonder (Stevie’s former wife) invited me year after year to attend the event and introduced me to Gladys, and many other performers who, at the time, were just starting out. Folks like Diana Ross and The Supremes, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, and on and on! What fun and precious memories I have of the after-parties. After all, none of us were well off, but it was such a pleasure to be a witness to blooming Greatness, if you know what I mean………..! Thanks, Suze.

  2. Dandy, glad you enjoyed it! I play so many of these fabulous old videos because contemporary music places so little value on actual singing now. Gladys is a perfect example of what’s missing when I turn on the radio. I know some cities (Chicago used to, not sure now) have old school R&B oldies stations, but not Philly.
